FL gov proposes election restrictions despite smooth 2020 vote

Addressing a rowdy, largely maskless crowd resembling a political rally, Gov Ron DeSantis and state Rep. Blaise Ingoglia laid the groundwork Friday for greater restrictions on voting in Florida. They also attacked local election officials, despite Ingoglia calling the state’s elections system “a beacon of light” in the U.S. At an event at the Hilton Palm Beach Airport Hotel in West Palm Beach, DeSantis and Ingoglia criticized drop boxes, mail-in balloting and “ballot harvesting” as Florida Republicans joined GOP Legislatures and governors in other states alluding to unproven fraud in the November election as a reason to crack down on voting access.
