In addition to leveling homes, businesses and the power grid across a wide swath of south and southeast Louisiana, Hurricane Ida has taken out the October 9 primary as well. Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin, Louisiana’s chief elections officer, called upon Gov. John Bel Edwards on Tuesday afternoon to postpone the primary till November 13, which was the original runoff date. Ardoin says the runoff should now fall on Dec. 11. All dates are Saturdays.
