Military voting access boosted with new Michigan election law
Military and overseas voters will effectively get more time to return absentee ballots under a bill Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed Monday. Senate Bill 259, which goes into effect immediately, gives Michigan voters living overseas and those serving in the military a grace period after polls close. As long as a ballot is postmarked by Election Day and received by the local clerk no more than six days later, the votes will count. Ben Orner, MichiganLive.
