Onondaga County election officials chide NYS for ‘irresponsible’ criticism in election runup

Syracuse, N.Y. – Three months after state officials torched the Onondaga County Board of Elections with highly publicized criticisms, commissioners of the county board have fired back. In a New Year’s Eve letter to the state Board of Elections, county commissioners said much of the state’s criticism amounted to over-reaction and “overreach.” The Onondaga County elections commissioners, Democrat Dustin Czarny and Republican Michele Sardo, sent their required response Tuesday to a state letter in October that blamed them for a big paperwork backlog that state officials said threatened the integrity of the election.
