Texas is finally making voting easier for people with disabilities
In an increasingly politically polarized Legislature, a set of voting laws aimed at improving ballot access for Texans with disabilities nonetheless passed this legislative session with bipartisan support. The measures’ success represents a major victory for voters with disabilities and voting rights advocates, who say they have struggled for years to get through to lawmakers on both sides of the aisle about the need for changes. Most recently, advocates also faced pushback from believers of election conspiracies and activists pushing for restrictive voting laws. At least 20 people testified publicly against one of the bills in April, most citing debunked claims about election technology. Natalie Contreras, Votebeat.
