The costs of counting ballots could skyrocket in Wyoming, but will there be enough money?
Teton County may be required to hand-count ballots at a ballooning cost to the county at the same time its coffers could be drained by draft bills moving through the Wyoming Legislature. Teton County Clerk Maureen Murphy said the clerks are tracking more than 50 election bills at this point, one of which, if passed, could make Wyoming the first state in the nation to ban the use of electronic election equipment. Many different county officials are facing the looming impacts of hundreds of bills being introduced in the first week of the legislative session, from federal immigration law enforcement requirements to property tax cuts.
