Voter ID compromise falls apart as Nebraska legislative days tick away

A monthslong battle over how to implement Nebraska’s new voter identification requirement continued Wednesday, with the sponsor of the main implementation proposal threatening to kill her own bill. State Sen. Julie Slama of Dunbar filed a motion to withdraw LB535 shortly after the Government, Military and Veterans Affairs Committee advanced an amended version of the bill.
