With recall at hand, California county elections workers say they are afraid
After weeks of what one official called bullying and intimidation, tensions are running high at the Shasta County elections office, even as workers begin the process of tallying votes in an emotionally charged Board of Supervisors recall. “I’m just trying to get through this week,” said Cathy Darling Allen, the county’s clerk and registrar of voters. “I personally have had several conversations with several people that I would characterize as bullying, much more aggressive than is appropriate,” she said.
