Community Engagement Coordinator
Essential Job Responsibilities – The following responsibilities highlight the key areas of this role. This is not an exhaustive list but serves as a guide to core functions:
Community Engagement
Partner with the Community Engagement Manager to identify and expand non-partisan community relationships.
Cultivate connections with local businesses and civic organizations to boost visibility and support.
Solicit and analyze community feedback to enhance outreach strategies.
Voter Education
Create brochures, flyers, presentations, and digital content to educate the public about elections and voting procedures.
Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications Manager to maintain clear, consistent, and timely messaging across platforms.
Manage and update the outreach section of the agency’s website.
Deliver presentations and training during outreach events.
Event Planning & Representation
Plan and coordinate mid-scale public events such as National Voter Registration Day and poll worker appreciation initiatives.
Represent BVRE at outreach events, tabling opportunities, and community meetings.
Track outreach activity and report on engagement metrics and outcomes.
Program Support & Special Initiatives
Support special projects including the “I Voted” sticker contest, Adopt a Polling Location, and poll worker recruitment.
Research best practices to enhance and expand outreach programming.
Assist in maintaining a centralized repository of outreach materials and resources.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Education, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field preferred.
At least two (2) years or more of relevant experience in public engagement, community outreach, or communications, ideally in a government or nonprofit setting.
OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Skills and Abilities:
Exceptional communication and public speaking skills with a talent for engaging diverse audiences.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, social media tools, and content management systems.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Other Requirements:
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Valid South Carolina driver’s license required.
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $50,440 – $66,060 (Estimated Annual Salary)
